Unconscious bias is an innate part of human nature. However, when we bring these biases into the workplace, they can cause us to unintentionally make decisions that are not objective, which can impact the diversity, culture and ultimately the success of an organization. By becoming more aware of bias in the workplace, managers and supervisors can learn how to “tip” the unconscious into the conscious, leading to the first step toward reducing the negative effects in the workplace. This session will review the potential consequences unconscious bias can have on businesses and discuss strategies for reducing bias in the workplace.
