A Healthier You: How Mental Health Affects Physical Health

Open to DVHT, DVWCT and DVPLT members at no cost.

There is more and more growing evidence of the connection between our mental health and our physical health. Recent wellness studies show the interconnection between fitness, nutrition, and mental health. Examples include emotional under- or overeating, depression following a medical diagnosis, how exercise can improve mood, etc. Learn to be empowered to make better choices for a healthier you – even during times of stress! This workshop takes a look at your health from the inside out by exploring the connection between mental and physical health.

This course covers the essential competencies required for an effective supervisor or manager.  Techniques in leadership and motivation, coaching and mentoring will be shared.  Additional topics include interpersonal styles and effective communication.

Location for this course is the Lansdale Borough Hall, Council Chambers 1st Floor, 1 Vine St. Lansdale, PA  19446. Parking across the street in the freight house lot.

The Delaware Valley Workers’ Compensation Trust (DVWCT) and Property & Liability Trust (DVPLT) is pleased to offer a limited number of $400 scholarships for the following course:

Gracie Survival Tactics (GST) – Level 1 Instructor Certification

September 19 through 23, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Location:  Gracie Jiu Jitsu Phoenixvlle, 550 Kimberton Rd, Phoenixville PA  19460

 Note: You must register directly with the vendor.

DVWCT and DVPLT is offering its members 20 scholarships valued at $400.00 each for GST Level 1 Instructor Certification Course being held September 19 through 23, 2022.  Limit one (1) scholarship per member entity.

How to Claim a Scholarship:

1)  DVWCT/DVPLT members should first contact the Trust to confirm availability and reserve a scholarship by emailing Carol Bigham at cbigham@dvtrusts.com or calling (267) 803-5720.  Scholarships are available on a first come/first served basis.

Defensive Driving for Sedans

Open to DVWCT and DVPLT members at no cost. You must register through the Trust to avoid billing.

This course consists of four hours in the classroom and four hours of practical driving skills. The goal of the course is to train sedan drivers in collision prevention techniques. In teaching these techniques, the course also promotes an attitude of mutual understanding, courtesy and cooperation on the road.  Topics covered include: general backing techniques, foul weather driving, crash avoidance, parking lot driving and braking techniques.

Attendees should bring a sedan vehicle to class in order to participate in the practical evaluations. Students must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid Pennsylvania Operator’s License.

Lunch is not included.

PRPS Swimming Pool Management 101 and Pool Pesticide Recertification

DVWCT/DVPLT Scholarship Opportunity

These courses are designed to assist municipal aquatic facility staff with maintaining a healthy bathing environment and meeting PA Dept. of Agriculture pesticide applicator certification requirements. For a complete description of the seminars, please refer to PRPS registration information (see links below).

Schedule: Pool Recertification Workshop: September 20, 2022, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. *Swimming Pool Mgmt. 101 Workshop: September 21, 2022, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Greater Plymouth Community Center 2910 Jolly Road, Plymouth Meeting PA  19462

Eligibility/Cost: 15 Scholarships of up to $150.00 each are available to DVPLT (Property and Liability Trust) and DVWCT (Workers’ Compensation Trust) members. Limit 2 scholarships per Trust entity.

Deadline:                    Requests for reimbursement must be received by November 30, 2022.

This course consists of four hours in the classroom and four hours of practical driving skills. The goal of the course is to train truck drivers in collision prevention techniques. In teaching these techniques, the course also promotes an attitude of mutual understanding, courtesy and cooperation on the road.  Topics covered include: general backing techniques, foul weather driving, crash avoidance, parking lot driving and braking techniques.

Attendees should bring a work truck to class in order to participate in the practical evaluations. Students must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid Pennsylvania Operator’s License (CDL if applicable).

Lunch is not included.

Police EVOC for SUV’s

Open to DVWCT and DVPLT members at no cost. You must register through the Trust to avoid billing.

Police emergency vehicle operations courses (EVOC) are taught by seasoned police instructors. The prime objectives of these hands-on, skill-based seminars are: (1) officer safety, (2) protection of innocents and (3) successful law enforcement.

This one (1) day course is designed for officers who routinely are assigned to drive a SUV or prisoner transport vehicles. This course will provide officers with an opportunity to apply the skills they learned during the Basic EVOC course while driving a larger vehicle. Defensive driving techniques and emergency response tactics will be demonstrated to and practiced by those attending. The course will be 1/2 day behind the wheel driving skills that includes a response course as well as a skill course that will include backing. Students must successfully complete written and practical exams to receive certification for the course.

Officers attending should report in old clothes by 8:00 a.m.

Officers attending must bring a police department owned SUV or prisoner van to drive on the driving range.

Lunch is not included however there are a few restaurants nearby.

This course addresses the skills necessary to run a successful public entity department or working group. It also addresses mission statements, activity planning, staffing, forecasting and budgeting.  Special emphasis will be placed on problem solving and troubleshooting for the public sector.

NOTE: Prerequisite course Leadership Fundamentals must be completed prior to enrollment.
