In the first quarter of each year, DVWCT surveys member risk control contacts to evaluate the effectiveness of its accident and illness prevention program. The feedback is used to improve service delivery as well as fulfill regulatory obligations under 34 Pa. Code § 129.458(12)(b). The later requires risk pools to “annually solicit comments from their members regarding the effectiveness of the accident and illness prevention program provided by the group self-insurance fund.”
For policy year 2024, we had a DVWCT member survey response rate of 51%. Here are some select highlights from the feedback we received:
- 98% of respondents gave the Trust’s overall accident and illness prevention program a rating of “extremely effective” or “effective”. Similarly, 98% of respondents gave the DVWCT Claims Department a performance rating of “extremely effective” or “effective”.
- Prevention program elements receiving top marks from survey respondents (i.e., rated “extremely effective” or “effective”):
-
- Annual service visit – review of claims and RC themes – 100%
- Trust Connections newsletter – 100%
- Annual service visit – facility audits/inspections – 98%
- Services provided by lead risk consultant – 96%
- RC grant program – 91%
-
- Program elements with lower albeit still positive ratings:
-
- Monthly loss run email – 89%
- Sample workplace safety manual – 88%
- Resources at www.dvtrust.com – 84%
- Live trainings – 82%
-
- Other interesting take-aways:
-
- 30% of respondents were unfamiliar with the shared access to online NFPA Fire Codes and International Building Codes subscriptions provided to DVWCT members.
- 31% indicated unfamiliarity with value-added industrial hygiene services (e.g., asbestos, mold, noise, etc.) provided by DVWCT.
-
For any responses that a member indicated they were “unfamiliar with benefit” or the “element needs improvement”, risk control department staff is in the process of conducted outreach to get a better understanding of the member’s specific needs.
While Trust staff strive for 100% customer satisfaction, our success depends largely on the cooperation we receive from members. Without this collaborative relationship, we would not be able to deliver the year-on-year, top-tier performance members have come to expect. The annual A&IPP survey is just one of the ways DVWCT members can influence the course of their workers’ compensation insurance program.
