The Law Enforcement Pre-hire Psychological Assessment program has been a valuable benefit enjoyed by DVPLT members since 2011. For those unfamiliar, the Trust covers the cost of the Pa.-mandated pre-hire psychological assessments provided a member utilizes a Trust-vetted psychologist. We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Paul Dikun, CAC, Ed.D, Ph.D to our psychologist panel.
Dr. Dikun is a Pa. licensed psychologist with over 38 years of experience in the fields of education and psychology. While working as an educator, Dr. DiKun earned two masters’ degrees and a doctorate in the field of education. He then continued his schooling to include a 3rd masters’ degree and a 2nd doctorate from Temple University, both in the field of psychology. Along with these credentials, Dr. DiKun added three certifications from the Commonwealth of Pa. in the area of addiction. Dr. DiKun briefly served as an adjunct professor of psychology, but the demands of his private practice as well as the emergency services provided to the Phila. Police and Fire Departments and the majority of suburban police departments in the vicinity, compelled him to devote all of his time to his clinical practice.
Dr. Dikun has appeared in state and federal court as an expert in the field of psychological trauma and has co-authored training curricula for the Commonwealth of Pa. used for the annual recertification of all police officers as well as training programs designed specifically for the Phila. Police Department. Dr. DiKun also has served as the clinical consultant for Law Enforcement Health Benefits, (LEHB), the organization that manages the health benefits for all active and retired Phila Police officers and their families since 2007. He is currently a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and the Delaware Valley Negotiators Association.
Dr. Dikun joins Drs. Wolanin and Crichlow in supporting DVPLT member police departments.
