Unconscious bias is an innate part of human nature. When we bring these biases to campus, however, they can cause us to unintentionally make decisions that are not always objective. This session defines unconscious bias, reviews its potential consequences, and outlines strategies for “tipping” the unconscious to the conscious to promote a more inclusive environment.
