The Trust has partnered with the Force Science Institute to offer a 2-Day Realistic De-Escalation Instructor Course on April 1 and 2, 2020 at the Trust Training Room, 719 Dresher Road, Horsham, PA. The Workers’ Compensation and Property & Liability Trusts are offering 25 scholarships for a 50% tuition reimbursement (limit 2 scholarships per member entity). This course is open to both law enforcement officers and de-escalation instructors.

Course Description: This course thoroughly dissects the complex concept of “de-escalation” and the many elements involved in determining its feasibility and effectiveness in a variety of encounters. This information is also critical for investigators and administrators when evaluating the feasibility of employing de-escalation techniques in a pressurized, rapidly unfolding encounter. The course—crucial for virtually all law enforcement professional trainers, from street officers and field supervisors to investigators, attorneys and administrators—mutes the rhetoric prevalent in today’s emotionally charged atmosphere and unbiasedly focuses on the proven scientific realities surrounding human behavior as they apply to efforts to de-escalate situations. It will present concepts and methods to support de-escalation efforts when personal connections can be made. Attendees will be provided with knowledge to apply to, and to address the needs of those in mental health crisis or those whose perception of reality is altered. The course is designed to improve the law enforcement officer’s ability to manage human beings by enhancing skills to establish contact, build rapport, and gain influence to achieve a police objective.

2)   Register directly with the Force Science Institute at https://www.forcescience.org/training/de-escalation-instructor/2020-04-philadelphia-pa/ using a credit card, PayPal or request an invoice to submit payment through your organization. 3)   After completing the course, forward proof of payment and attendance to cbigham@dvtrusts.com or fax (267) 803-5770.

 

 

4)   Upon approval, the Trusts will issue a reimbursement check for the value of the scholarship (up to two per member entity).
