Pulled from the headlines and the dockets, this course will cover areas most likely to land an officer and their Department in federal court, and what can be done to minimize the risk. Using the case law as our backdrop, we will explore encounters with the mentally ill, use of deadly and non-deadly force, emergency vehicle operations, the monumental importance of good policy, cellblock incidents, and hidden dangers.
